I’m Jen — the stitch-loving, sea-obsessed human behind Fugu Embroidery Co.

I started with hand embroidery, dabbling here and there, until I got my first embroidery machine in December 2023. I’m a self-taught embroiderer who recently left the corporate world to chase something slower, more creative, and way more personal. My love language has always been gift-giving, and Fugu started as a way to make meaningful, handmade pieces for the people I care about. Now, I get to do the same for you.

Even though I’d been stitching for years, I officially launched Fugu Embroidery Co. on February 4th, 2024. Honestly? I was scared — scared no one would want my work, scared I’d fail, scared it wouldn’t be enough. But I took the leap anyway, and I’m so glad I did.

Growing up, I always wanted those souvenir keychains or mugs with my name on them — you know, the ones at every tourist shop? Somehow, even “Jen” was never there. Maybe that’s why I love creating custom pieces so much — no one should be left out of the fun.

I’m also an avid scuba diver and longtime lover of Japan, which is actually where the name Fugu comes from. It’s the Japanese word for pufferfish, my favorite little sea creature. (Second favorite? Garden eels.)

Every piece I create is custom-designed, machine-stitched, and made with lots of care — and probably a little too much time choosing thread colors. Whether it’s a custom hat, a wedding crest, or a keychain with an inside joke only you understand, I’m honored to make something that’s just for you.
